Blackborough House – an Italianate Restoration

We are pleased to announce that the practice has been appointed as architects and structural engineers for the restoration and extension of Blackborough House in Devon.

Built in the Italianate style in 1838 the house was Grade II listed in 1987. Neglected for many years Blackborough House is now in desperate need of restoration.

The new owner believes that the house should be accessible to both the local community and tourists alike. Newly created spaces within the building could provide facilities for a diverse number of functions including weddings and exhibitions. It is proposed that a gallery and restaurant are located on the ground floor with up to 20 bedrooms on the upper floors. Spa and leisure facilities are also being considered.

The restoration of the walled garden and the eleven acres of grounds that surround Blackborough House will form an integral part of the proposed restoration.
