Despite the owner being told by others that they’d “never get permission to extend” this Grade II Listed building was extended and refurbished after Nigel Bird Architects completed their negotiations with Westminster.
The extension and refurbishment of a traditional London mews house included a new basement. A four storey light allows natural light to all floors. Within the light well there is a four storey, ten meter high, living green wall which adds variety and colour to each floor.
The owners wanted to completely refurbish and extend their home. They also wanted to create a new basement cinema. Nigel Bird Architects worked closely with audio visual consultants to create ‘Dad’s Room in the basement’.
Nigel Bird Architects obtained planning permission and listed building consent to convert this redundant Grade II listed church into three apartments. Planning permission was also obtained for two new houses in the grounds.
